NICE TO MEET YOU

Hello!! My name is Sofie Engelschiøn, I am a Norwegian multimedia artist, and welcome to my little creative corner!

Get to know me:

In 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, I decided it was time for a change. Like many others, I realized how fragile life is, and I wanted to see as much as possible before my eyes closed forever. So I applied to a school in Florence, Italy, and in August of the same year, I moved with my Helly Hansen XL duffle bag to a place I had never visited before.

For the past three years, I’ve studied art in what is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Life itself has been shaped by months of isolation, but also by months filled with laughter, wine, and song. In July 2023, I completed my bachelor's degree in Multimedia Art and can finally (officially on paper too) call myself an artist.

Now I’m off on new adventures, swapping wine and pasta for canoeing and hiking pants. In November 2023, I decided to move again—this time to Yellowknife, Canada, where I now live.

I hope you’ve visited this page because you’ve seen something you like, so let me tell you a bit about my artistic practice!

The world is a busy place, and it’s easy to get lost in it. My artworks capture moments in time and zoom in on everyday details that somehow seem to go unnoticed. Moments that, if not appreciated, will disappear as quickly as they appear. Creating multimedia art across several platforms has allowed me to use the world as my canvas. With my work, I aim to offer a break from reality—a moment to breathe, recharge, and refocus—reminding people that art can be found in all the small corners of the world.

I do everything from photography to painting, videos, and installations. Here on my website, you’ll find everything from my latest paintings to photographs. I also take commissions on request.

It’s so nice to have you here! Take a look around, and I hope we stay in touch.
