ABOUT ME | SOFIE ENGELSCHIØN
In 2020, I packed my XL Helly Hansen bag and moved to Florence, Italy, to study art—without ever having visited the city before. Like many others, the pandemic made me rethink everything, and I knew I wanted to spend more time doing what I love.
I spent three unforgettable years in Florence, studying Multimedia Art and soaking up inspiration from Renaissance masterpieces, foggy Tuscan mornings, and late-night conversations over wine. In 2023, I completed my degree and officially became an artist—not just in spirit, but on paper too.
After Florence, I followed my curiosity to Yellowknife, Canada, trading cobblestone streets for snow, stars, and silence. And now, I’m back in Norway, trying to make a living from my art full-time. It’s both terrifying and exciting—but mostly, it feels right.
My work spans painting, photography, video, and installations. I’m always trying to capture the quiet beauty in everyday life—the kind of moments that are easy to miss but hard to forget.
If you’re curious about the behind-the-scenes of being a working artist, I share a lot of my creative process (and life in general) on social media!
